MyJustice II · British Council · 2020 – 2023

A £4M EU justice programme, communicated nationwide

The challenge

MyJustice II was a £4M EU-funded access-to-justice programme delivered through more than fifteen implementing partners. The subject matter was sensitive, the audiences were multilingual, and every output carried donor visibility obligations.

What I owned

The nationwide communications and visibility strategy, plus a multidisciplinary team of web developers, artists, designers and translation vendors — and compliance with EU branding rules across everything we published. Budget responsibility for the Result Area 1 communications workstream: approximately USD 400,000 across two agency contracts, including scope addendums as delivery expanded.

Key actions

Ran quarterly editorial calendars agreed across all fifteen partners; set trauma-informed, gender-sensitive content standards and held the team to them; delivered across web, app, Meta and Google Display; measured with Facebook Insights, Mailchimp and Google Analytics; ran capacity-building workshops so CSOs and youth groups could carry the messaging themselves.

What I learned

With fifteen partners, the calendar is the strategy. Agreement on what goes out and in what order beats any individually brilliant asset — and the discipline of getting that agreement early is what produced 98% on-time delivery rather than a scramble every quarter.

The Lann Pya figures above are as published by the programme, in an article I wrote for the MyJustice site. The 2022 strategy behind them was built around returning users rather than raw reach.
